Through most of Charles Lloyd’s tenure with ECM, the disparity between the subdued Jekyll of his studio recordings and the turbulent Hyde of his live performances has been all too apparent. But after ten releases and more than 15 years of near-exclusive affiliation with the label, the saxophonist has significantly narrowed that divide on Jumping the Creek, resulting in one of the finest recordings of his long career.
